Advancing the Brain Industry Together

Summer 2007

Dear Prospective NIO Member,

Thank you for taking the time to consider joining The Neurotechnology Industry Organization. With your participation, the NIO looks forward to providing a strong and unified voice to promote and advocate for advances in commercial neuroscience.

The Neurotechnology Industry Organization represents a broad spectrum of neurotechnology companies (drugs, devices and diagnostics), brain research centers and brain-illness advocacy groups across the United States and the world.

The NIO's mission is to accelerate cures for brain and nervous system diseases by:

• Promoting the industry's progress and contributions to quality of life
• Advocating the neurotech industry's position to government officials
• Providing effective business development services to our members

Our programs increase awareness of neurotechnologies; reduce barriers to innovation and support industry growth.

As a founding member of NIO your company will enjoy the following benefits:

- Input into and featured representation in industry promotional campaigns
- Participation in the identification of lobbying and advocacy initiatives
- Discounted publications and conference rates from affiliated organizations

On March 29, NIO organized a successful public policy tour in Washington DC where twenty neurotech executives met with eighteen Senators and Representatives to discuss the National Neurotechnology Initiative (NNTI), a proposed $1 billion Federal research and development program designed to coordinate balanced and focused strategic investment across multiple agencies to accelerate development and translation of neurotechnologies. Members also were driven to the NIH and FDA for meetings with senior officials at both organizations to discuss a NIO-FDA collaborative working group and SBIR reform.

NIO will be spending the next several months leveraging our momentum to accelerate federal support for neurotechnologies that will benefit your company and your industry.

Join the effort to give the brain industry a unified voice.

Please feel free to contact me regarding any aspect of NIO.

Sincerely,

Zack Lynch
